Malama Maui

Maui is a second home for my family. My husband grew up there. We have family living there. We’ve lived there. My oldest daughter was born there. We’re very lucky that our family there is safe, but they are living through yet another crisis. They have opened their homes to families who have lost everything, and disaster relief leaders. Lahaina is gone. That statement is one that absolutely no one was ever prepared to hear.

Malama means to care for and protect. Right now Maui needs a lot of care. I'm working with the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild to fill a request for hearts and baby blankets for the people of Maui. You can help by donating or purchasing a sticker of the artwork I made.

Donate Items

If you’re in the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild, or want to help make keepsakes, here are some free patterns on Ravelry. Hearts need to be in white DK yarn.

There is also a need for blankets. Blankets can be any pattern, color, and fiber. Any size will be accepted but I recommend a toddler size, around 30x36 inches. Please leave a note with care instructions for me to include with the blanket packaging.

Items will be collected when the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild meets on the first Tuesday of the month at The Best Little Retreat Center In Texas during the 2023-24 guild year. If you are unable to attend in person to donate keepsakes, please contact me.
